Events

Past Event: Vows Made In Blood

A Blood & Tears Event on August 28th, 2010, in Regina, SK..

The recently widowed Regana Yvarai has remarried. Her new husband, young Gryndil Thorne, is one of the lucky few who manage to make it into the ranks of the Blooded after rising up from a peasant birth, and he seems doubly blessed at being able to achieve a union into as prominent a family as Regana's. The ceremony was small, but it was beautiful - Regana would settle for nothing less. Now the newlyweds are throwing an intimate but extravagant party for their friends - and enemies. At least one figure draped in red stalks the halls, and another one of the guests is the very many show slew Regana's husband in a Duel only six short months ago... Will Regana and Gryndil's marriage oaths be joined tonight by darker vows made in blood?

Characters:

  • Lord Cavala Yvarai, Blooded of the Fox
    (Taken by David R)

To say that Cavala's good looks are a fraction of what they once were says something remarkable indeed about how stunning he was, since he still puts most of the rakes of the Blooded of the Fox to shame. His wife Moryandal just recently passed into Solace, and he has had an interesting time balancing his concerns and newly found independence. Outwardly he is happy to see his daughter Regana re-marrying, but what his true feelings on the match are might be more complicated...
  • Lord Chayan Mwrr, Blooded of the Serpent
Chayan is Regan's brother in law, married to her younger sister Gwanal. He has mostly been content to play silent partner in the marriage and to back Gwanal's bids for power, but has become more visible recently as his wife has retired somewhat from the public eye. What he lacks in words, he makes up for in attentiveness, and it is rumoured that he has been accumulating a large catalogue of secrets and blackmail material to assist his wife in her planned ascension to greater power.
  • Lady Cosette Steele, Blooded of the Elk
    (Taken by Shyla Z)

Regana's younger sister, Cosette is still somewhat of an unknown quantity, though her choosing the Blooded of the Elk over that of the Fox makes a statement of its own. She has just recently been married as well, to the Serpent Sagay Mwrr.
  • Lord Dagal Adrente, Blooded of the Wolf
    (Taken by Carson A)

Dagal thrives on strife and adversity and isn't typically the type of man who blesses a marriage with peace and prosperity. But he is generally well-behaved at parties.
  • Lady Dara Yvarai, Blooded of the Fox
Dara was an old friend of Cavala's wife Moryandal who has been spending more and more time around the family lately as they adjust to no longer having their matriarch. Dara is charming and beautiful, but that doesn't stop many from suspecting her motives.
  • Lord Ddwyer Ballan, Blooded of the Elk
    (Taken by Mark C)

Ddwyer is an experienced player of the great game, and seems to see himself as somewhat of a mentor to some of the younger Ven. He has recently been granted the right of High Revenge against Sagay Mwrr.
  • Sir Ecc Uvan, Blooded of the Elk
    (Taken by Josh L)

Ecc served Regana's deceased husband as his Master Poet. Anyone who knew Regana's husband would know that he had little use for poetry, so the rumours about Ecc actually being his Master of Spies are probably accurate. Though he still serves as Regan's Master Poet, there is some wonder about how loyal he actually is to her, especially now that she is remarrying.
  • Lord Godfren Adrente, Blooded of the Wolf
    (Taken by Sacha R)

Godfren was the enemy and rival of Regana's mother Moryandal for many years, that rivalry only ending recently with Moryandal passing into Solace. He seems to have made some peace with Regana and her family since, but there is still suspicion that he may merely be waiting for the right moment to strike.
  • Lord Gryndil Thorne, Blooded of the Falcon
    (Taken by Des B)

Not born to the Blooded, Gryndil earned his Blooding into the House of the Falcon through courage and feats of arms. Being born unBlooded, he did not have the blessing of a noble match made for him earlier in life, but considers himself fortunate to have been able to now win the hand of Regana.
  • Sir Isla Tal, Blooded of the Wolf
    (Taken by Mike M)

Gryndil's only Blooded Vassal, this young Wolf has been serving him as his Master of the Road for almost a year now. Some might say he spends a little too much time attending the opera, for he is idealistic and romantic. Still, he has served admirably in helping to keep Gryndil's lands free of Orks, and no one can deny his ferocity.
  • Lady Regana Yvarai, Blooded of the Fox
    (Taken by Ayla C)

Regana was only recently widowed beauty. Her husband, Aban, used to manage their lands and was the prime plotter of the two, and some of her family were worried how she might fare without him. They needn't have worried however, for not too long after she made the acquia She used to be primarily concerned with the finer things in life, and some thought of her as weak as a result, but only those who had not seen her image disgraced or manners misplaced in her presence. She is vain, but no less dangerous for it. She is one of Sorio's cousins.
  • Lady Tjan Burghe, Blooded of the Bear
    (Taken by Jill B)

Tjan is a reknowned devotee of the Sauven Manna Renay, the sleeping saint who governs hospitality. The choice of asking a devotee of the Sacred Mother to oversee the swearing of husband and wife is an obvious one, and Tjan used to be a very close friend of Regana's dead husband.
  • Lady Trixauna Thorne, Blooded of the Falcon
    (Taken by Kitty G)

Trixauna Thorne started her career as a bold Baroness, beholden to no liege, though she has recently sworn herself to a Lord. She makes enemies quickly and easily, it appears, but makes friends quickly too - her and Gryndil seem to have become fast friends over the past little while.
  • Lord Vardas Thorne, Blooded of the Falcon
Vardas is the Count who originally elevated Gryndil to the ranks of the Blooded, as a reward for bold service in arms. Vardas is also Trixauna's father. Notably, he is currently liege to neither of them - he has tended to be extremely picky with his vassals over the years.

Past Event: Fever in the Blood

A Blood & Tears Event on December 4th, 2010, 7pm at Acacia Hall in Edmonton, AB.

For the Ven, nothing compares to Opera. Opera is the Art that demands all other Arts. Drama. Music. Architecture. Dance. And, of course, Romance and Revenge. Like everything else, the ven are obsessed with the proper presentation of Opera. So much so that they only recognize seven plots as appropriate to the stage. Authors and composers work to re-tell these seven tales with different voices, using each to communicate a new moral, a new truth. Just a tweak of the pen and a familiar tale delivers a different message.

But there is only one ending. Blood.

A young Blooded of the Elk has written his own variation on The Husband's Tale, calling it "The Perils of Autumn". The piece has garnered much attention in the central isles, so it is considered a coup that a local lord was able to garner a performance - a single performance - out in the Irchavor Isles.

Despite all the talk the new Opera is generating, most of the rumours being spread are about the hosts... One a fierce Wolf who wasn't known to have much patience for Art, but that isn't so exceptional. The other is a Serpent who has taken on the mantle of High Revenge - not someone who should have the time for the distractions of Art. Doubly confusing is the presence of the Serpent's foe on the guest list. Once you factor in the notoriously tempermental composer, a few singers who are nobles themselves, and an artistic patron who has some unrevealed strategm...well, there's room aplenty for both Revenge and Romance.

And there is no doubt that it will end in Blood.

(Please e-mail your character requests to storyteller@postmodernanachronism.com. All of the untaken characters except for Sitthydeth are freely gender-flippable.)

Characters:

  • Lord Ashla Uvan, Blooded of the Elk
    (Taken by Danielle G)

Ashla disguises a tempermental nature under a veneer of artistic detatchment. She has a reputation of getting political but, make no mistake, she considers her craft to be her top priority - so much so that she has had a tendancy to neglect her lands and titles for it. It is only through Lady Jana's patronage that Ashla has been accorded the luxury to work on her Operas undisturbed.
  • Dame Aby Steele, Blooded of the Elk
    (Taken by Mana A)

Aby is Ashla's vassal, it just so happens that she's also one of her performers. She is talented, but it is clear that she is starting to see Ashla's obsession with Opera as something that blocks her from further ambitions, and since Aby is both her vassal and very ambitious herself, this is a problem. Nevermind the fact that her ego hasn't exactly been placated by performing with Sitthydeth, whom she is well too aware used to be a peasant.
  • Lord Ato Bowen, Blooded of the Bear
    (Taken by Chris F)

Though Ato is no brute and has appreciation enough for Art like any Ven, he probably wouldn't normally travel far to see an Opera. Fortunately, his provinces are very close by. Of course, whether Ato travelled to see the Opera, or whether he is here using the Opera as cover for reconaissance for future aggression remains to be seen...according to Ato and his own liege, he has more than enough cause to take the lands the opera house resides upon.
  • Lord Bajinoth Tal, Blooded of the Wolf
    (Taken by Wayne S)

One of Maura's Vassals, Bajinoth is ever-eager to prove his worth. Calling him impulsive is probably an understatement - he's a good man to have one's back in a fight, but he's highly likely to be the one that starts that fight in the first place.
  • Lord Dagal Adrente, Blooded of the Wolf
    (Taken by Carson A)

Dagal thrives on strife and adversity and isn't typically the type of man to make a performance more relaxing by his presence. But he is generally well-behaved at parties.

  • Lady Dranna Mwrr, Blooded of the Serpent
    (Taken by Jackie C)

Dranna is Sagay's sister, but no one is quite sure if she is his friend or ally. Given their political entanglements, it would make perfect sense for them to be enemies - or allies only in secret. No one is sure whether she's just here for the Opera, or whether she's here to check up on her brother since High Revenge was declared on him, and Dranna isn't saying - she isn't a woman who gives her secrets away for cheap.
  • Lord Godfren Adrente, Blooded of the Wolf
    (Taken by Sacha R)

Godfren is a fiercely proud Wolf whose Prowess with the Sword is well known, even as the years tick on and his greatest rivals pass into Solace. Still, Godfren doubtless has enough enemies on his list to last him a few more years, which makes people all the more curious about why he's gone to such effort to get a performance of The Perils of Autumn here.
  • Lady Jana Yvarai, Blooded of the Fox
    (Taken by Deb F)

Perhaps stereotypically, Jana is a fierce advocate for and patron of the arts - and her passion for Opera exceeds all others. Not that this makes her any less dangerous - she has several vassals and is much feared by those who know how far her reach extends.
  • Lady Maura Tal, Blooded of the Wolf
    (Taken by Cindy G)

There was a time that Maura Tal was renowned for both her viciousness and her ambition, but much of the fire left her after her husband Dagul was slain in a duel by Rali Yvarai. She is an ally of Godfren, and was one of the first to be invited to the performance.
  • Lady Olivama Burghe, Blooded of the Bear
Somewhat aloof from society in her mountain stronghold, some might mistake Lady Olivama for being uncultured. Nothing could be further from the truth - Olivama has a profound respect for and interest in the Arts, but she is a traditionalist who frowns somewhat on unwarrented innovation whether in Art, Romance, or Revenge. For those who show Good Form she is an able defender, but she makes rebels and iconoclasts nervous, and with good reason.
  • Lord Rali Yvarai, Blooded of the Fox
    (Taken by Trent Y)

Graceful like his mother and deadly like his father, Rali has the dubious honor of being the last one to kill a member of the opposing family during the feud - it was his blade that ended Dagul, husband of Maura.
  • Lord Sagay Mwrr, Blooded of the Serpent
    (Taken by Tyler B)

Sagay is the Baron of the Irchavor Isles, though he used to be the Baron of such. Suffice it to say, he's had a run of bad luck...a run that ended with DDwyer Ballan successfully claiming High Revenge against Sagay, and both of them donning the Red. It seems peculiar, to say the least, that Sagay's Opera house is now hosting a reknowned Opera an a wide assortment of Sagay's enemies and old allies have been invited to attend. Of course, since one under High Revenge can hardly be expected to obey protocol, Lord Godfren is co-hosting the event to give it an air of propriety...
  • Sir Sitthydeth Yvarai, Blooded of the Fox
    (Taken by Jay W)

It isn't entirely unusual for the Blooded to perform in Operas, but it is unusual for one of the peasants to be Blooded for their skill in performance, which is exactly what happened to Sitthydeth. Lady Jana gave him a name worth having, and then commanded him to continue pursuing his craft. Sitthydeth presents arrogance out of scale with his title - perhaps his elevation has gone to his head, or perhaps he realizes just how out of his league politically he is, and puffs himself up to scare off rivals. Either way, he is performing the lead role in the Opera. (Note that the Opera occurs off-stage - whoever plays Sitthydeth will not have to perform or sing. ;) )
  • Lord Sorio Ashken, Blooded of the Falcon
    (Taken by Rob M)

Dashing and uncompromising even as a youth, Sorio is Rali's brother - but where Rali takes after their mother, Sorio takes after their father. Sorio has become a charming host and has proven adept at making new alliances for him and his wife.
  • Lord Torr Thorne, Blooded of the Falcon
    (Taken by Emmanuel Z)

Not too many years ago, Torr betrayed his former liege, using a legal loophole to get out of his contract, to side with Maura. It doubtless irks Torr that, after making such a bold and audacious move, Maura and her foe ended up making peace. The Torr that serves today is more than a little bit embittered by the events of the past.

Past Event: Blood Makes the Soil Rich

A Blood & Tears Event on Saturday, February 12th, in Saskatoon, SK. at St. Andrew's College

Seven Hundred and Eighty One Years after the fall of the Aelva Danna, the Season is Autumn...

The Lady Alanya Tal has invited the Blooded to the castle she shares with her husband, Lord Sorio Ashken, perched underneath the Arild mountains.  Autumn is coming to a close and Winter nears, but Lady Alanya wears green, the colour of renewal, and asks the Ven to renew their bonds of trust and friendship .  As the feud between her family and that of her husband was ended, she wants to celebrate the putting aside of petty squabbles.  After all, the last celebration of Alanya and Sorio's marriage ended in no small amount of bad blood, and such would be a bad note to end the year on.  Especially now with Sorio's father passed into Solace, with such notables as Sagay Mwrr and Cosette Steele dead at the hands of Orks or the blades of other Ven...  With their lands unoccupied, tempting those who might decide to discard the wishes of the fallen and say that strength is the only guarantee of inheritence...  When the Suaven whisper from their dreams "Blood makes the soil rich!", the peasants in the field fear the necessary truth "Blood make the soil rich!" and all the Ven who grasp steel remember the old proverb "Blood makes the soil rich!"...  Surely, now is the time for peace and friendship?

The Cast of Characters:

Lady Alanya Tal, Baroness of Arild
(Taken by Brittany B)
Blooded of the Wolf
Alanya and Sorio's marriage was born out of a desperate attempt to put an end to a feud between Alanya's mother, Maura Tal, and Sorio's father.  The pair seem to have grown close in that time, and although Alanya displays some of the same vicious streak her mother used to have, she seems to have learned softer ways as well as she has grown to adulthood. Now some might even see her as relatively gentle for a wolf, and hope that her marriage with Sorio will continue to provide some reassurance of peace, but others fear that the Blood will tell...

Dame Ashla (Tal-Askhen)
Unblooded
Ashla is the young daughter of Alanya and Sorio(Ven mature more quickly than humans, so Ashla would be the rough equivilent of a teenager now). She has yet to be Blooded into one of her parents' Houses, but she will need to make the choice soon. Which direction she heads in might well have some impact on the marriage alliance.

Sir Asvil Yvarai, Herald of Arild
(Taken by Jay W)
Blooded of the Fox
Sorio's nephew, Asvil serves as his uncle's Herald until the time that he earns - or seizes - lands of his own to make himself a proper Baron. Sorio seems well-inclined towards Sir Asvil, and it is suspected if he has his way he would grand Asvil land as his Vassal as soon as he can get his hands on the right real estate, but Alanya doesn't seem so well-disposed to Asvil - she sees him as foppish and vain, and is perhaps right.

Lord Bajinoth Tal, Baron of Perem
(Taken by Wayne S)
Blooded of the Wolf
One of Maura's Vassals, Bajinoth is ever-eager to prove his worth. Calling him impulsive is probably an understatement - he's a good man to have one's back in a fight, but he's highly likely to be the one that starts that fight in the first place.

Lord Dagal Adrente, Baron of the Deep Busyk
(Taken by Carson A)
Blooded of the Wolf
Not the happy couple's biggest admirer, Dagal thrives on strife and adversity and had played the two families off each other to his profit for some time before an accord was reached. However, his wife Feyla is quite close to both Sorio and Alanya, and Dagal is not quite enough of a brute not to attend a party when invited.

Lord Ddwyer Ballan, Baron of Risyl
(Taken by Mark C)
Blooded of the Elk
Ddwyer is an experienced player of the great game, and seems to see himself as somewhat of a mentor to Alanya and Sorio. He is also Ul's vassal and, given his reputation for Cunning many wonder what his angle really is.

Baron Ecc Uvan, Baron of The Lesser Expanse
(Taken by Josh L)
Blooded of the Elk
Ecc has served as Gryndil and his wife Regana's Master Poet - a term most assume to refer to the rank of master of spies.  There have been doubts about Ecc's true loyalties, since he was always the most loyal to Regana's first husband, but Gryndil and Regana have attempted to ensure his loyalty by giving him lands of his own and elevating him to the status of Baron.

Lady Feyla Vatar, Baroness of the Deep Busyk
(Taken by Jordan G)
Blooded of the Serpent
Feyla is a close friend of Sorio and Alanya, having associated with Sorio when the two were children and becoming even closer yet to Alanya after Sorio and Alanya were joined. Her personality is somewhat of a contrast to the happy couple's - Feyla is somewhat retiring and bookish, lacking Alanya's temper or Sorio's boldness. Still, when time permits she is often joined at the hip to one or the other of them.

Lord Godfren Adrente, Count of the Nordostlich Marches
(Taken by Sacha R)
Blooded of the Wolf
Godfren is a fiercely proud Wolf whose Prowess with the Sword is well known, even as the years tick on and his greatest rivals pass into Solace. The last man to fall before his Sword was Sagay Mwrr, who Godfren slew during a Duel in Sagay's own home.  Not, perhaps, the most auspicious of guests to invite to a party supposedly themed around peace and renewal, but as a rising regional power, his presence is probably necessary.

Lord Gryndil Thorne, Baron of the Vesnt Expanse
(Taken by Des B)
Blooded of the Falcon
Not born to the Blooded, Gryndil earned his Blooding into the House of the Falcon through courage and feats of arms.  Not six months ago he was married to the young widow Regana Yvarai. He met Sorio Ashken not long after he was Blooded, and the two Falcons shared enough in common to become fairly fast friends.

Lady Halia Thali, Baroness of Tharowyd
(Taken by Rhea L)
Blooded of the Falcon
A young and somewhat naïve Falcon, Halia has just recently earned land enough to call herself a Baron.  Her parents were of very high rank, and there is hope she will distinguish herself equally in time.  She is one of Godfren Adrente's newest vassals.

Lord Haroon Tamel, Baron of the Awos Lowlands
(Taken by Tyler B)
Blooded of the Fox
A vassal of Ul Mwrr, Haroon is a young man who is absolutely convinced that his relative lack of prominence in the world is almost entirely a product of the fates robbing him of opportunities to prove himself.  What holdings he has been given by Ul are dreary swamps - valuable to his Serpent liege, no doubt, but little more than a burden to a proud Fox like Haroon.  When Ul's liege was betrayed by Sagay Mwrr and declared Sagay's lands to belong to whichever of his vassals could claim them, Haroon loudly declared he would make himself a Count by taking back the ill-gotten territory...but despite his declarations, Haroon made little ground.  He seldom misses any party thrown in the area, especially when it is thrown by fellow vassals of Ul like Alanya and Sorio.

Dame Lura Reinhold, Roadwarden of Arild
(Taken by Shyla Z)
Blooded of the Bear
As Lura's father served Maura Tal as Roadwarden, so now Lura serves Alanya and Sorio as their Roadwarden. Striking a dashing and romantic figure, Lura has yet to earn a full barony from Alanya, but often seems more at home on the open road anyway. For now she seems content to build up a legend about herself, and as she is charismatic and likable(if rugged in demeanor) she has an easy time about it - she is the type of woman poets enjoy writing about.

Lady Maura Tal, Countess of the Kinechenth
(Taken by Cindy G)
Blooded of the Wolf
There was a time that Maura Tal was renowned for both her viciousness and her ambition, but much of the fire left her after her husband Dagul was slain in a duel by Sorio's brother, Rali. Many believe the death of her husband was the last straw in the feud between her and Sorio's father, and it was shortly after her husband's death that she helped arrange the marriage of her only daughter, Alanya, to Sorio.

Lady Mererid Burge, Baroness of Sulr's Teeth
(Taken by Alison S)
Blooded of the Bear
Lady Mererid served Sorio's father as a loyal vassal for many years, but has always been fiercely indepdent and stubbron.  During Davan's waking years, he made Mererid swear to assist his two sons - Sorio and Rali - keep Davan's holdings, but there is some doubt as to whether Mererid will do so...she certainly has the capability of siezing much of Davan's lands for herself.  Her appearance at Alanya's party is likely a good sign though...unless her primary reason for being here is to give Alanya and Sorio a chance to gracefully accept Mereid as their new overlord and avoid any future conflict.

Lady Regana Yvarai
(Taken by Ayla C)
Blooded of the Fox
Regana was only recently widowed, but has since remarried. Her first husband, Aban, used to manage their lands and was the prime plotter of the two, and some of her family were worried how she might fare without him. They needn't have worried however, for not too long after she made the acquiantence of Gryndil Thorne who has now become her second husband. She used to be primarily concerned with the finer things in life, and some thought of her as weak as a result, but only those who had not seen her image disgraced or manners misplaced in her presence. She is vain, but no less dangerous for it. She is one of Sorio's cousins.

Lady Siwan Ashken, Baroness of the Bururn Heights
(Taken by Cori M)
Blooded of the Falcon
Lady Siwan is Sorio's aunt, but she is only a few scant years older than him.  She had kept relatively distant from Sorio's branch of the family for some years - Siwan never got along particularly well with Sorio's father Davan, and there is gossip about a Romance of Siwan's that ended when her brother put the fear into her suitor to prevent Siwan from dishonouring herself.  Certainly, there was some kind of grudge there that was never forgiven.  Has she come to Sorio and Alanya now to mend fences now that Sorio's father has gone away, or is she simply contuing her feud with Davan's descendent?

Lord Sorio Ashken, Baron of Arild
(Taken by Rob M)
Blooded of the Falcon
Dashing and uncompromising even as a youth, there was some worry that Sorio would be an unfit match for Alanya when the two were paired together ten years ago. Surprisingly, they've managed to make the arrangement work, and bought at least a temporary peace between their families. While Alanya has taken on most of the political and administrative duties of the partnership, Sorio has become a charming host and has proven adept at making new alliances for the couple. His father Davan Ashken's passage into Solace worries some - now his father's lands and vassals are potentially up for grabs, and whether or not the situation can be stabilized remains to be seen.

Lord Suahaven Valar, Baron of Ormisar
(Taken by Gray M)
Blooded of the Serpent
Lord Suahaven gets invited to a lot of parties, which isn't what one expects for a Serpent - forbidden knowledge and a taste for deciet are not traits stereotypically assigned to a good party guest.  But the forbidden knowledge Suahaven treasures are all songs and poems, and such "minor amusements"(Suahaven would never think to compare his little recitations to the great arts like Opera) make him a popular guest.  Of course, all the while he is watching the party-goers and gathering material for his next song.  Supposedly he is currently working on a song about Sagay Mwrr, a fellow Serpent, recently struck down in a Duel by Godfren Adrente...

Lord Torr Thorne, Baron of Ceylt
(Taken by Emmanuel Z)
Blooded of the Falcon
Not too many years ago, Torr was one of Davan's vassals, but Maura gave him a better offer. He found(or manufactured) lapses in the contract he had signed with Davan, and used them as excuses to switch sides and take a large chunk of Davan's lands with him. It doubtless irks Torr that, after making such a bold and audacious move, Maura and Davan ended up making peace - especially since there were rumours that Alanya's hand in marriage was part of the payment offered to him for his treachery.

Lord Ul Mwrr, Count of the Ketar Reaches
(Taken by Andrew P)
Blooded of the Serpent
A patient strategist, Ul has established his reputation as a level-headed and dependable sort. When Alanya and Sorio were married, Ul stepped in to nullify the question of which family the pair would owe alliegence to by offering the pair vassalage under himself. He is now in a prominent position between the two families, and Alanya and Sorio have become two of his most valuable vassals.

Past Event: Blood & Wine

A Blood & Tears Event on Saturday, April 30th, in Edmonton, Alberta

Seven Hundred and Eighty One Years after the fall of the Aelva Danna, the Season is Winter...

The long widowed Countess, Lady Maura Tal, has announced she is once again taking a husband - fellow Wolf, Lord Godfren Adrente.  So as the worst of the Winter storms are subsiding, Lady Maura has sent out invitations to friends, family, and rivals for a party to celebrate her engagement.  But while the lords and ladies of the Ven are giving gifts and making toasts, there will also be countless intrigues in the shadows - an Alliance between Lady Maura and Lord Godfren would have an impressive impact on the alliances of many of the local nobles, and not all of Maura's party guests are there to help her plan for the wedding and to wish her well...

The Cast of Characters:

Ashla (Tal-Askhen)
(Taken by Katrine N)
Unblooded
Ashla is Sorio's young daughter(Ven mature more quickly than humans, so Ashla would be the rough equivilent of a teenager now). She has yet to be Blooded into one of her parents' Houses, but she will need to make the choice soon.  Of course, Sorio and his wife Alanya will also soon have to look to Ashla's marriage prospects as well, if they don't already have the matter well in hand...

Lord Cadfan Reinhold, Baron of Valacre
(Available)
Blooded of the Bear
The husband of Lady Shajar, the bold and brash Cadfan seems a poor match for the more cunning Shajar but, then, their match was never about their personalities.  A good man to have at any party, Lord Cadfan is usually a boisterous but well-behaved guest.

Dame Deta Adrente, Roadwarden of the Fallhurst Isles
(Available)
Blooded of the Wolf
The grandchild of Maura's liege, Deta Adrente is Blooded of the Wolf and is currently serving her grandfather, the Marquis of the Fallhurst Isles, as a Roadwarden.  She comes to Maura's engagement party bearing gifts of congratulations from her grandfather and master, but also with ambitions of her own that might prove either boon or hinderance to Maura, and potentially both.

Lady Olivama Burghe, Baroness of Whiteston
(Thea S)
Blooded of the Bear
Somewhat aloof from society in her mountain stronghold neighboring Maura's lands, some might mistake Lady Olivama for being uncultured.

Lord Rali Yvarai
(Taken by Trent Y)
Blooded of the Fox
Graceful like his mother and deadly like his father, Rali has the dubious honor of being the last one to kill a member of the opposing family during the feud - it was his blade that ended Dagul, husband of Maura.

Lady Shajar Ru, Baroness of Valacre
(Available)
Blooded of the Serpent
Shajar is Maura's younger sister, and, from outward appearances, the two could not be more different.  Maura took their mother's House and became Blooded of the Wolf and acquired reknown as a warrior, while Shajar took her father's House and became Blooded of the Serpent - a House known for wisdom...and treachery.  The one thing the both have in common is their ambition.  They have been rivals as often as they have been allies, but both seem to appreciate how the other's presence helps to keep them sharp.  Shajar has yet to make her opinion on Maura's impending marriage known...

Lord Tatjan Steele, Count of Highiron
(Taken by Ray B)
Blooded of the Elk
Serving the same liege as Maura, Tatjan Steele had been close friends with Maura and her former husband once upon a time, but drifted away from his fellow vassal after her husband was slain by Rali Yvarai.  As always, Tatjan keeps his cards close to his chest, and never revealed the reason for creating distance between himself and Maura.  It is anyone's guess whether he is attending Maura's engagement party for personal reasons, or if he is instead attending to be a visible presence from their shared liege.

Seven Hundred and Eighty Two Years after the fall of the Aelva Danna, the Season is Spring...

The Cast of Characters:

Lord Arvil Burghe, Baron of the Bururn Heights
(Taken by Tyler B)
Blooded of the Bear
Unfailingly civil but very ambitious, Arvil Burghe has a reputation for stalwart service to his liege, Lord Ianto.  He is Lady Siwan Ashken's husband.

Ashla Ashken
(Taken by Katrine N)
Blooded of the Falcon
Ashla is Sorio's young daughter(Ven mature more quickly than humans, so Ashla would be the rough equivilent of a teenager now). She has yet to be Blooded into one of her parents' Houses, but she will need to make the choice soon.  Of course, Sorio and his wife Alanya will also soon have to look to Ashla's marriage prospects as well, if they don't already have the matter well in hand...

Lord Ecc Uvan, Baron of The Lesser Expanse
(Taken by Josh L)
Blooded of the Elk
Ecc has served as Gryndil and his wife Regana's Master Poet - a term most assume to refer to the rank of master of spies.  There have been doubts about Ecc's true loyalties, since he was always the most loyal to Regana's first husband, but Gryndil and Regana have attempted to ensure his loyalty by giving him lands of his own and elevating him to the status of Baron.

Lady Eysllt Valar, Baroness of Asardight
(Taken by Danielle G)
Blooded of the Serpent
Eysllt was, for many years, close Regana and Aban and, indeed, the Serpent once tutored Regana's son, Drial, in some of the lore, though just how good a pupil he was remains in question - he certainly never showed much Wisdom in life, but as it is rumoured that Eysllt's knowledge of intrigue and poison is at least equal to her book learning, perhaps Drial paid more attention than some thought.  She was one of the few who seemed to mourn deeply Drial's death, and it is only now, with the birth of his half-brother, that she emerges back into Regana's circle.

Hywel Banin, no title
(Daniel S)
Blooded of the Wolf
Hywell used to serve Vardas Thorne as one of his Roadwardens - it was there that he originally met and befriended Gryndil Thorne.  Unlike Gryndil, Hywel was born to Blooded parents, whom he received his Blooding from, and assumed that his service as a Roadwarden was but the first step of many before he gained lands of his own and climbed to fame and greatness.  However, Hywel has yet to earn his land and title, and recently left Vardas' service for unknown reasons.  At loose ends, he thought it most prudent to visit his old friend Gryndil and help him celebrate the birth of his new child...

Lady Lura Reinhold, Baroness
(Taken by Shyla Z)
Blooded of the Bear
As Lura's father served Maura Tal as Roadwarden, so now Lura serves Alanya and Sorio as their Roadwarden. Striking a dashing and romantic figure, Lura has yet to earn a full barony from Alanya, but often seems more at home on the open road anyway. For now she seems content to build up a legend about herself, and as she is charismatic and likable(if rugged in demeanor) she has an easy time about it - she is the type of woman poets enjoy writing about.

Sir Neirin Thali, Vashna
(Taken by Joey S)
Blooded of the Falcon
The colors black and silver mark Neirin was one of the Vashna - wandering investigators appointed by the Senate (the collection of all titled Ven), going where the Dukes cannot go and carrying back evidence and testimony.  Some join the Vashna hoping to profit from the authority, but for most it is an undesirable role of low rank, sought only by the landless and those disinherited by their families.  Neirin, of course, refuses to say which catagory he falls into.  The Vashna claims to be calling upon Regana's party only because he was already nearby and thought he might join in the revelry, but doubtless the other party-goers are suspicious he is attending with investigation on his mind.  If nothing else, prudent guests will at least ask themselves "What was Neirin investigating in the area in the first place?"

Lady Rhian Tammel, Baroness of Ytura
(Available)
Blooded of the Fox
Lady Rhian is a devotee of Talia Yvarai, the greatest of the Fox Suaven.  Talia's priestesses are beautiful, witty, and educated in all the arts, and Lady Rhian is no exception.  An old friend of Regana's, she was likely invited to help call down the Suaven's favour on the new child.  The choice of someone devoted to the Suaven of art and love might seem a bit unusual for a naming blessing, but Regana doubtless has some devotion for Talia Yvarai as well.  Either way, Rhian's presence seems to make any party more pleasant but, as with so many of the Blooded of the Fox, her smile can be just as deadly, if not more so, than her dagger.

Lady Shanina Burghe, Countess of Niurneld
(Available)
Shanina is an old and nearly forgotten friend of Regana's now-sleeping mother, Moryandal.  Considering Moryandal's reputation for Cunning and Shanina's seemingly inoffensive and naive exterior, some find it a surprise they were ever close.  But if they think Shanina became a Countess without some tricks of her own, they must be fools indeed.  There are rumours that Shanina once met Cavala (Moryandal's husband) in a duel once, many years ago...  Despite Moryandal's passing away into Solace, it is clearly Shanina still has some interest in the descendants of that famed line.

Has she come to Sorio and Alanya now to mend fences now that Sorio's father has gone away, or is she simply contuing her feud with Davan's descendant?

Lady Trixauna Thorne, Blooded of the Falcon
(Taken by Kitty G)
Trixauna Thorne started her career as a bold Baroness, beholden to no liege, though she has recently sworn herself to a Lord. She makes enemies quickly and easily, it appears, but makes friends quickly too - her and Gryndil seem to have become fast friends over the past little while.

Lord Vardas Thorne, Count of the Athyine Isles
(Available)
Blooded of the Falcon
Stern and unyielding, Vardas has a reputation as an honourable but ruthless man.  Vardas is the Count who originally elevated Gryndil to the ranks of the Blooded, as a reward for bold service in arms. Vardas is also Trixauna's father. Notably, he is currently liege to neither of them - he has tended to be extremely picky with his vassals over the years.
